FAITH HEALERS is about the untold history of Filipino doctors who left their homeland to care for the health of the United States. For Dr. Zorayda Lee-Llacer, medicine wasn’t simply a profession, it was a purpose and migration was a leap of faith toward an unknown, hopeful future. By exploring the unique and complicated colonial history between the USA and the Philippines, witness the enormity of the challenges and achievements of the Filipino Americans who created a vibrant new community just outside the nation's capital in Prince George’s County, MD. From immigration in the 1960’s to 2nd generation growing pains, its an exemplary story of sacrifice and service by a people that are too often erased from the American narrative. At its heart, FAITH HEALERS is about Filipino KAPWA - our shared humanity - and the importance of honoring our history, celebrating our culture, and telling our own story.
