Mesquite Award Nominees: Documentary

Un agitado viento (An agitated wind) fuses elements of live action narrative, marionettes and stuffed animal toys shot in theatrical settings and bilingual speech to depict a series of poems by the chicana writer and cultural critic, Gloria Anzaldúa (1942-2004). | A moment of desperation turns into a fateful encounter for a man on the brink of self-destruction | A young woman suffers from "misophonia," an irrational hatred of sounds.

Family Day | This is the story of a little girl who is different. Her world is Coyoacan, Mexico City. Sparkling, vibrant, everything interests her and when difficulties arise, she faces them with an overflowing imagination. This little girl is called Frida Kahlo.
