U.S. Showcase 1: Documentary

"Heroic Villains" is a three-minute experimental AI film that thoughtfully explores the Chicano experience through the lens of the anti-hero, reimagining masked luchadors as rich and influential mythic figures in a mesmerizing world filled with masked Latinx wrestlers, Día de los Muertos, magic, and surrealism. In this work, both male and female characters don intricately designed lucha libre masks, which are not just costumes but profound symbols of identity, love, and resilience.
US Showcase 2: Narrative

A Mexican journalist exiled in New York, harassed by threats while investigating a corruption network, begins to question her reality and distrust even those around her. | Set at a dance studio in Detroit circa 1979 that pays homage to the late 70s when disco music was gospel. Our story revolves around an elderly man who tries to convince a jaded disco dance instructor to teach him how to dance so he can surprise his wife on their 60th wedding anniversary... in one week.

Christopher, shaped by generational curses and his environment, was incarcerated at 17. After a decade, he emerged transformed, proving that change and overcoming those curses start with a new mindset. Doing videography & photography since 2016. David (Avid) started doing videos for fun when he started to record music for artists in a home recording studio, then he learned he could turn it into a career & also becoming a passion of his.

It is a terrifying story of a young man who suffers from mental illnesses, the loss of his parents, and the lengths he would go to protect what is his. Born in Guatemala City, Alejandro Aldana has a strong experience in Production and post-production, working for NBC News in Corpus Christi to start his love for TV.
