Set amid the sun-drenched countryside that inspired Bonnard’s work, the film also evokes the vibrant artistic circles of the time, with figures like Claude Monet—who painted the water lilies on Bonnard’s property—and other luminaries appearing as part of the couple’s richly textured world.
