Schedule of Events:

10:30 AM-11:30 AM: Filmmaker Workshop: The Tools & Techniques of Motion Picture Lighting

A brief overview of the theory, equipment, and methods of lighting films for meaning, mood and emotion. Learn tricks and techniques used by top cinematographers and gaffers that can be adapted to low budget indie filmmaking.

11:55 AM-1:00 PM: Asheville Film Festival Feature Screening: "The Other Side of Learning"

The second feature screening of the 2025 Asheville Film Festival- "The Other Side of Learning: A Deeper Conversation About Education in the US". This locally-made documentary examines how we educate our youth in the United States today and explores a POD school here in Asheville where students thrive in a different learning model. Tickets are $10/ person, drinks will be available for purchase, and all ticket sales go to supporting the Asheville Film Festival 501(c)3 nonprofit.

1:15 PM-2:15 PM: Asheville Film Festival: That Hits Different Film Block

Join us for a collection of films that have literally nothing to do with each other at all. We just like them and you will too! Tickets are $10/ person, drinks will be available for purchase, and all ticket sales go to supporting the Asheville Film Festival 501(c)3 nonprofit.

2:30 PM-4:00 PM: Asheville Film Festival: Seeking Connection Film Block

Whether you're seeking connection or missed one, these short films focus on the human need for relationships and the different (sometimes questionable) ways we search for them. Tickets are $10/ person, drinks will be available for purchase, and all ticket sales go to supporting the Asheville Film Festival 501(c)3 nonprofit.

4:15 PM 5:15 PM: Asheville Film Festival: Nature's Medicine Film Block

Join us for this uplifting film block of two documentaries that highlight nature's ways of healing and bringing people together. Tickets are $10/ person, drinks will be available for purchase, and all ticket sales go to supporting the Asheville Film Festival 501(c)3 nonprofit.

7:00 PM-9:00 PM: Asheville Film Festival: Awards Night Gala

Come see which of your favorite films of the 2025 Asheville Film Festival are honored on awards night and which film wins the 1st place cash prize! Tickets are $20/ person, drinks will be available for purchase, and all ticket sales go to supporting the Asheville Film Festival 501(c)3 nonprofit.

Thank you for supporting the Asheville Film Festival and all of our local and regional filmmakers! Doors open at 6PM and this event is followed by a social with the filmmakers. This is a red carpet event so dress to impress, arrive early to bid on silent auction items generously donated by local businesses, grab a drink, and claim your seats!

3:30 PM-4:00 PM: The Asheville Film Festival VIP All-Access Pass

The Asheville Film Festival is reborn in August of 2025, with Documentary and Narrative Short Films blocks throughout the weekend focusing on local and regional filmmakers. All-access passes are only $89 and get you into all screenings, workshops, and events for the weekend!
